1st Call

In 18/19th March 2011 Study Group 2 will meet in Kalamata, in the Department of History, Archaeology and Cultural Management  of the University of Peloponnese. Our aims, as set in the initial description of the group are to “assess the technical level of weaving, to clarify issues related to the materials used, to investigate the different types of looms and the techniques of spinning”. This initial study has been modified en route to include other matters, as weaving technology in written sources, or the publication of important textiles from Greece. Iris Tzachili, Papadopopulou Margarita, Christophe Moulherat, Katanastassi Pavlina, Zimi Eleni among others, will present the results of their work.

All participants of the project are kindly invited to take part. Our host in Kalamata will be Eleni Zimi, Assistant Professor in Classical Archaeology.
